Public Spaces Protection Orders

PSPO - Sports Grounds

Our Public Spaces Protection order - sports grounds (PSPO) helps us:

  • keep dogs, pedestrians and drivers safe
  • prevent dog fouling
  • keep areas set out for specific uses safe and clean 

Dogs are not permitted at any time on the following sports grounds:

  • Earby Recreation Ground
  • Springfield Playing Fields
  • Swinden Cycle Hub
  • Bullholme Bike Trail

Dog walkers can walk no more than 2 dogs per person, and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on the following:

  • Bullholme Playing Fields
  • John Bradley Playing Fields
  • Reedley Sports Ground
  • Emmott Lane Playing Fields
  • Holt House Playing Fields
  • Edge End Playing Fields
  • Hodge House Playing Fields
  • Swinden Playing Fields

There are no restrictions on dogs at:

  • Trawden Recreation Ground
  • Ringstone Crescent Playing Fields

There are also some rules about good behaviour. The full list of rules, and how they are enforced, is in the order. The main types of behaviour that are not allowed are:

  • using fireworks
  • running a business or organising a public performance without our permission
  • smoking in children's play areas, multi use games areas, tennis and ball courts
  • camping and camp fires
  • harming animals
  • damaging plants and trees
  • damaging equipment 
  • throwing dangerous objects
  • playing dangerous sports or using radio controlled aircraft and vehicles
  • swimming, sailing or fishing in ponds or streams 
  • parking overnight
  • riding or walking horses not on bridleways
  • metal detecting
  • flying of drones

Anyone not complying with the rules of the order can be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
