Key performance indicators

Our current performance information for this performance indicator (PI) is shown in the graph. 

It is important to understand that the annual targets we set ourselves are challenging ones and reflect the need to achieve the high recycling targets set in the Lancashire Waste Strategy.

This indicator is used to show how much household waste in Pendle is recycled, reused and composted through kerbside collection. Increasing this rate will show an improvement towards the national target of 50% recycling by 2020.

This PI has been used for a number of years and is therefore valuable in measuring ongoing performance. However, performance is also subject to seasonal peaks and troughs; for example, there will be more garden waste during the summer months than in the winter months.

We produce estimated data to coincide with our corporate quarterly reporting cycle. The true data is usually confirmed two months after the end of each quarter, although because some information comes from external sources it can be subject to delays.
