Key performance indicators

Percentage of 'major' planning applications determined within 13 weeks

This indicator provides us with a measure of our performance regarding how quick we are at processing planning applications. It also helps us to check the quality of decisions being made locally.

For dwellings, a major development is one where the number of residential units to be constructed is 10 or more. Where the number of dwellings to be constructed is not given in the application a site area of 0.5 hectares or more should be used.

For all other uses a major development is one where the floor space to be built is 1,000 square metres or more or where the site area is 1 hectare or more.

This is a former statutory indicator that was linked to the central government drive to ensure local planning authorities determined planning applications in a timely manner.
