Budget Consultation launched by Pendle Borough Council

Published Tuesday, 28th January 2025

Residents, businesses and local organisations are being encouraged to share their views on the Council’s finances as Pendle Borough Council prepares to set its budget for 2025/26.

A Budget Consultation is now underway until Friday 14 February giving local people a chance to have their say on how the Council spends its money. Cllr Asjad Mahmood

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “We’re proud to deliver a wide range of services to residents across Pendle.

“And we’re committed to providing good quality and good value for money services that local people want and need.

“Please take the time to have your say. This is your opportunity to influence important financial decisions, including how much Council Tax you pay.”

The Council receives the majority of its funding through Council Tax, with the balance coming from Government grants and Business rates.

In 2025/26 Pendle Borough Council has a funding shortfall of approximately £1m so it needs to identify ways to tackle this through savings and income generation.

Pendle has more than 97,000 residents.

In 2023/24:

  • 2.4m bins were emptied
  • More than 72,000 calls were answered by the Contact Centre
  • 95.64% of Council Tax was collected
  • 79 Disabled Facilities Grants were processed
  • 4,826 fly-tipping incidents were cleaned up.
