Cricket
Cricket pitches (both grass and synthetic) are available for hire from April through to September each year.
Grass wickets tend to be used mainly for more formal, league type games and synthetic wickets on a more informal, casual basis although they can be used for an organised game if clubs or leagues want them.
Pitch allocation forms (including fees and charges) for the next season are sent out annually during February.
The preparation of cricket wickets and outfields is done by our Landscape Maintenance Team on a weekly basis. We also have an annual pitch renovation programme which starts at the end of the cricket season.

The umpire generally makes the decision as to whether a cricket fixture goes ahead as there are no formal pitch inspections carried out. In special circumstances, such as bad weather or a special event, we may cancel games. If this happens, we will give any clubs and leagues that are affect plenty of notice.
