Hackney carriage vehicle licence
Hackney carriages are more commonly called taxis. They can be hailed at a hackney carriage rank or in the street.
All hackney carriages in Pendle are red and have a meter fitted. The driver is not allowed to charge more than the fare shown on the meter.
Apply for or renew a licence
To apply for a new licence or to renew an existing licence, please complete the Vehicle application form. Before you start, please have your insurance certificate, vehicle registration document/bill of sale, compliance, and test sheet ready to upload. We will process your application and send you an email with the licence attached and details of how to collect the licence plates.

We have a limit of 71 hackney carriage licences. All our licences are currently issued, so no more licences can be issued at this time.
