Appreciate Pendle's parks during Love Parks Week

 

Love Parks is Keep Britain Tidy’s annual campaign to celebrate parks and green spaces, the people who care for them, and the countless benefits they bring to people, communities and the environment.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “We have some fantastic parks and greenspaces in Pendle which we are very proud of, and we are asking residents to make a special effort to visit and appreciate them during this week.

“In partnership with town and parish councils, and with support from volunteers and Friends groups, numerous parks throughout the borough fly the coveted Green Flag, which proves the calibre of our greenspaces.

“During this dedicated week, we are encouraging people to get out and enjoy their local park – whether it’s to play with their children, exercise, walk their dogs or have a picnic with friends.”

Councillor Zafar Ali, the Council’s Operational Portfolio Holder, said: “Our parks are the heart of our communities, fostering social cohesion and giving everyone a place to come together and appreciate their local, natural environment.

“So, during this week, we want people to give their local greenspace a visit!”
