The Board is made up of local community members, including voluntary and faith sectors, police, health, businesses and council representatives.

Claire Bennett, CEO of Positive Action in the Community and Chair of Nelson Pride in Place Board, said: “We’re delighted that our Plan has been formally approved.

“It brings together the voices, ideas and ambitions of more than 1,000 local people who engaged with us during our initial consultation.

“We’re now moving into the next phase where we will begin developing projects which will make a real difference in Nelson.

“These will build on what’s happening through Nelson Town Deal to strengthen the town, boost skills and foster pride in the area.”

The Board’s 10-year vision is to create a thriving, inclusive and forward-looking town, known for its strong sense of community, vibrant economy and welcoming environment for residents, businesses and visitors.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Deputy Leader of Pendle Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Development and Regeneration, added: “This funding gives us the long-term certainty needed to deliver projects over the next decade based on Nelson’s needs and priorities.

“Our Plan sets out a clear vision to revitalise the area, enhancing public spaces, improving local infrastructure, and creating new opportunities for local people.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, feedback, and support throughout the Plan’s development.

“Together, we are taking an important step toward a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for Nelson.”

The Board will continue to work closely with local people in the coming months, with further community engagement and conversations planned to shape projects and bring its vision to life.
