Join this year's Great British Spring Clean campaign

Pendle Borough Council is backing the Great British Spring Clean campaign this month and encouraging residents to take part.
Now in its 10th year, this is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign, with Keep Britain Tidy on a mission to improve public places, stop littering and educate future generations about waste.
This year – with the theme ‘Love Where You Live’ - the big clean-up takes place from Friday, 13 March to Sunday, 29 March.
Individuals, community groups, schools and businesses are encouraged to organise their own events during these two weeks in their chosen areas.
Pendle Borough Council will add its support by providing litter bags, litter pickers and gloves to those who want to take part in the campaign - and collecting all the litter at the end of each event.
Councillor David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “With the campaign’s theme this year – Love Where You Live – we are keen to do our bit here in Pendle to keep it a place where residents do love to live!
“We have a fantastic community spirit, with lots of volunteers taking part in Civic Pride initiatives, and we're encouraging new people to get involved during this national spring clean.
“We hope individuals, schools, organisations and local businesses will sign up to help make a difference.”
Councillor Zafar Ali, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing and Customer Services, added: “Litter picking is a simple action that anyone can do. It makes an immediate and visible difference to the environment where we live, work and play.
“If you want to help make Pendle a cleaner place, join the Great British Spring Clean this month and pledge to pick up a bag – or more!”
Anyone organising a litter picking event can register with Pendle Borough Council - email Michelle Cooney – michelle.cooney@pendle.gov.uk - who can also help with equipment and risk assessments.
