Pendle Kitchen in Colne has been recognised by Pendle Borough Council and Lancashire County Council for serving fresh and healthy food to its customers.
The arcade café has received both a Bronze and a Silver Recipe 4 Health award.
The Recipe 4 Health scheme recognises food businesses which offer healthier eating choices and considers environmental issues and social responsibility.
Councillor David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “In partnership with Lancashire County Council, our Recipe 4 Health Award is constantly extending across the borough and it’s great to see so many of our local food outlets getting onboard.
“A special ‘well done’ goes to the staff at Pendle Kitchen who have gained not only the bronze award, but the silver one too!”
Local food takeaways, cafés and sandwich shops with a Food Hygiene Rating of three stars or over can apply to join the Recipe 4 Health Scheme.
There are three levels for the award – bronze, silver and gold. Businesses must start with bronze and work their way up to gold.
Councillor Mohammad Hanif, Pendle Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure Services, added: “We want to encourage as many local eateries as possible to sign up to the scheme in an effort to make Pendle a healthier place in which to live and work.”
