Grants still available for Nelson businesses

There’s £23,000 still available for Nelson businesses to take advantage of as part of the Nelson Town Deal project.
The funding is to support upcoming projects which will create jobs and improve productivity.
But the deadline is the end of March 2026, so interested parties are advised to act fast.
The Business Resilience and Growth Project, part of the Nelson Town Deal, is one of seven projects designed to promote sustainable growth within the area, transform the town and provide new opportunities for local people.
Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Deputy Leader of Pendle Borough Council and Nelson Town Deal board member, said: “We have already supported several businesses with these grants, which have helped them to grow and thrive.
“We still have a small amount left in the pot which we would like to offer to any Nelson business looking for financial support.
“The grant can be used for investment in new machinery, initiatives to lower CO2 emissions or energy consumption, and building improvements to support growth.”
Mike Williams, Pendle Borough Council’s Economic Development Officer, who leads the Business Resilience and Growth Project, added: “We’re keen to hear from any of the town’s businesses that have potential projects that could be supported.
“Grants can be used to part-fund machinery, carry out environmental improvements or fund premises adaptations.”
Stephen Barnes, Chair of the Nelson Town Deal Board, added: “We have already seen an encouraging number of companies using the grant funding to future-proof their organisations.
“I hope we can support at least one other company with the money we have left.”
