There’s still time to renew your postal vote
Published Wednesday, 3rd December 2025
Thousands of people in Pendle registered to vote by post are being urged to renew their postal vote soon because of a change to the law.
Following changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, all postal voters must now reapply for their postal vote every three years.
Around 7,500 people in Pendle still need to reapply by 31 January 2026 to continue voting by post in future elections.
Andrea Mullin, Elections and Registration Manager for Pendle Borough Council, said: “Lots of people have already renewed, but there are still many people who haven’t yet reapplied.
“All postal vote applicants must now provide additional information including National Insurance number and an up-to-date sample of their signature.
“Anyone who doesn’t renew their postal vote before the end of January 2026 will need to vote in person at their polling station until they submit a new postal vote application.”
The quickest and easiest way to apply to vote by post is to go online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
These details are stored securely, so that at voting time, they can be matched with the information you provide, and your vote can be validated and counted.
Those who no longer wish to have a postal vote can contact the Elections Team to request to have it removed by emailing elections@pendle.gov.uk or calling 01282 661662 or 661619.
