Pendle Borough Council has adopted its Council Plan which sets out its vision and priorities up to 2028 and the key actions for the next 12 months to improve life in Pendle.
The Council will focus on a range of key initiatives including supporting local people who are struggling financially, tackling health inequalities and regenerating the towns.
The Council Plan (formerly Corporate Plan) has four priority areas:
- Providing High Quality Services and Facilities
- Proud and Connected Communities and Places
- Good Growth
- Housing and Healthy Communities.
Councillor David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “With Local Government Reorganisation looming, Pendle Borough Council has three years to make a difference for local people.
"Councillors are focusing attention on where we can achieve changes and also prepare our area for a new council.
“We have an important role in providing support to people when they need it whilst planning for a better future.
“We’ve updated our Plan to ensure the focus is on areas which will really make a difference.
“Against each priority are a number of pledges and actions to show how we’re going to fulfil them.
“This includes providing good quality affordable housing; responding to climate change; protecting our green spaces; improving community safety and keeping our streets clean.
“We’ll prioritise street level issues to ensure our neighbourhoods are great places to live.
“And we’ll continue to work with partners to keep our residents safe through the community safety partnership and take an active stance on improving flood defences where this poses a risk.”
The updated Council Plan recognises potential changes which will come from Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution for Lancashire.
Lawrence Conway, Interim Chief Executive of Pendle Borough Council, added: “The Council Plan has been built on a strong understanding of what is important to our communities now and in the coming years.”
