Pendle Borough Council has signed up to the Lancashire Skills Pledge for 2025.

Organised by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, businesses throughout the county are invited to sign up to the pledge and demonstrate outstanding commitment to inspire and develop the skills of local people.
Councillor David Whipp, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “This is something else the Council is proud to be involved in and reiterates our dedication to helping improve the lives of people in Pendle.
“By signing up, we are being recognised as being actively involved in one or more of the nine Lancashire Skills Pledges, committed to inspiring and upskilling local people.
“There are a total of nine pledges and, so far, Pendle Borough Council has pledged four, with a possible two more in the pipeline.”
The Council has pledged to:
- Be an Enterprise Advisor - Aneesa McGladdery, Pendle Borough Council’s Principal Economic Development Officer, is now an advisor
- Upskill its workforce – There are several members of staff across the Council who have retrained and moved from one service area to another
- Take on an apprentice – The Council has one apprentice who is about to complete his second year with the hope of securing a permanent role
- Help young people get work ready – The Council has attended several careers fairs, including the Festival of Engineering, to inform young people about the different roles there are in the organisation
Aneesa McGladdery, Pendle Borough Council’s Principal Economic Development Officer, added: “I am excited to be an Enterprise Advisor to one of our Pendle high schools.
“I love the idea of giving back to the school I attended and offering support to the senior leaders there to help them create meaningful, inspirational encounters for the students as they prepare for the world of work.”
