Make sure you have your say at the elections next month

Pendle Borough Council is encouraging residents to make sure they have their say at the elections next month.

On Thursday 1 May there will be elections held for Lancashire County Council.
Pendle Borough Council’s Vivary Bridge ward by-election will also take place on the same day.
There are a number of ways you can vote:
- In person at a polling station
- By postal vote
- By appointing someone to vote in your place with a proxy vote
Andrea Mullin, Pendle Borough Council’s Elections and Registration Manager, said: “Make sure you register to vote and don’t forget your ID!
“To be able to vote you must be on the electoral register and you must register to vote by midnight this Friday, 11 April.
“The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Monday 14 April, and for a proxy vote the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.
“Having a postal vote or sending someone else to the polling station as a proxy to vote on your behalf means you can still have your say in elections.
“To vote in person at a polling station you will need to take some form of photo ID with you, such as a passport or driving licence.
“Anyone without an accepted form of photo ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. But this must be done by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.”

Lawrence Conway, Pendle Borough Council’s Interim Chief Executive and Deputy Returning Officer, added: “This is an opportunity for everyone to have a say on who should represent Pendle Borough Council at Lancashire County level; so we urge as many residents as possible to make sure they are able to vote on May 1st.”
