There are still grants available for Nelson businesses as part of the Nelson Town Deal.

One such business that has already benefitted from a grant is Agenda Boxes & Packaging Ltd who received a grant of £32,000 towards a new CAD machine and to concrete the yard at their premises on Clayton Street to make it more useable.

The grant also helped to generate three new full-time jobs and safeguard a further 11 full-time jobs.

Nelson businesses can apply for similar grants by contacting Mike Williams, Economic Development Officer at Pendle Borough Council, via email michael.williams@pendle.gov.uk or by calling 01282 661963.

The money can be used for investment in new machinery, initiatives to lower CO2 emissions and energy consumption, and building improvements to support growth.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Growth and Regeneration and Nelson Town Deal board member, said: “The funding comes from the Business Resilience and Growth Project, which is designed to promote sustainable growth in the area, create jobs and provide new opportunities for local people.

“It is an essential component of our ambitious 10-year plan for the town and is an exciting use of the £25 million we received.

“We are delighted to have been able to support Agenda Boxes & Packaging Ltd - a company which is obviously going from strength to strength.”

Phillip Spurr, Pendle Borough Council’s Director of Place, added: “It is wonderful to see a local business doing so well, not only providing a service for other businesses locally, but also nationwide.

“The financial help we have been able to offer has made a difference to Agenda Boxes & Packaging Ltd who can now provide a service they couldn’t previously do.

“We urge other Nelson companies who would benefit from a grant to help improve or expand their business to contact us.”

Gary Barker, Managing Director of Agenda Boxes & Packaging Ltd, said: “The grant has helped us to innovate new bespoke designs throughout various industries. Customers can now receive a fast response from design through to production.

“It’s also improved our quality control and production planning.

“We have also achieved The Forest Stewardship Council®. This is an international non-governmental organisation that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests certification, which is an international, non-profit, multi-stakeholder organisation that promotes responsible management of the world's forests via an independent certification process.”
