We are here to support you

We, like many, remain deeply affected by the shocking incident in Southport last Monday.
Our heartfelt condolences and sympathies go out to the victims and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
There have been no incidents in Pendle, but we want to reassure people that the Council is working closely with Lancashire Police and other partners.
As a Council, we continually strive to unite communities and not divide them, and we have fostered strong connections within our communities over time.
All the partner organisations in Pendle share the same concerns and we are doing our utmost to help communities get back to normality.
We know the past few days and weeks have left some people feeling concerned and vulnerable and worried about further protests and disruption.
But we want to reassure everyone that we are working together with the police and numerous community groups and partners from different faiths and backgrounds, so we will be ready to respond to any concerns or incidents to make residents feel as safe as possible.
Neighbourhood Policing teams are engaging directly with any groups that may have concerns and are increasing their patrol activity.
We encourage neighbours to check on each other and report any concerns so they can be checked out.
Disinformation is a huge driver of these violent gatherings. We have seen lots of information circulating online about possible events that haven’t come to anything; so please think twice about what you read, share and believe from online sources.
Please be vigilant and assured that the safety of our residents is our top priority, and we are working in partnership to make sure we support you during these difficult times.
Let us be very clear, we will not tolerate any form of racist or Islamophobic views or activity, whether on social media or in person.
Remember, we are a Pendle family. Let’s support each other with compassion and respect.
