New constituency reminder for Pendle voters
Published Thursday, 6th June 2024
A General Election is taking place on Thursday 4 July and Pendle residents are reminded that they will be voting in a new constituency.
The UK is divided into 650 areas, called constituencies, each of which elects one MP to represent local residents in Parliament.

Rose Rouse, Pendle Borough Council’s Chief Executive and Acting Returning Officer, explained: “New constituency boundaries have been redrawn to reflect population changes and distribute the number of voters more equally.
“Most residents will now vote in the Pendle and Clitheroe constituency but those in Brierfield East & Clover Hill & Brierfield West & Reedley will vote in the Burnley constituency.”
Andrea Mullin, Pendle Borough Council’s Elections and Registration Manager, added: “The constituency you’ll vote in will be on your poll card which will be delivered to everyone who is registered to vote in Pendle.
“The card will also tell you where your polling station is, as well as how to vote by post or proxy, if you are unable to vote in person.
“If you choose to vote in person, don’t forget you now have to show photo ID.”
A list of accepted ID, which includes passports, driving licences and bus passes, is set out on the back of the poll cards.
Anyone without an accepted form of photo ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate.
