Spring back into gardening!

It’s time to start putting your garden waste bins out!

Pendle Borough Council’s crews will be out emptying green bins from this week, helping people to recycle their garden waste.

So gardeners on the scheme are being urged to check their recycling calendars, fill their green bins and get them out on the right day.

Garden waste is collected fortnightly, on the same day as your recycling. For rural properties, it is collected on the same day as your refuse.

Phillip Spurr, Pendle Borough Council’s Director of Place, said: “With spring on its way, it’s time to get back into your garden, enjoy the fresh air and recycle the remnants of winter.

“Gardeners who are not currently on the scheme can also sign up now – and the price is the same as last year!”

David Walker, Pendle Borough Council's Assistant Director of Operational Services, added: “At just over £2 per collection, it’s cost-effective and an eco-friendly way to recycle your garden waste.

“Now is the time to put things like twigs and small branches which have come down during the last few months’ wind and snow into your green bin, as well as weeds, hedge clippings and grass cuttings.”
