Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “We have listened to local people and considered the opportunities as well as the challenges facing Pendle.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in our public consultation – your feedback means the Plan has been written with a strong understanding of what’s important to you now and in the coming years.”

Called This is Pendle, the six-week public consultation asked local people, including residents and businesses, to share how they felt the borough could be improved.

It also gave an opportunity for people to understand the Council’s challenging financial position and say how they think money should be spent on services.

The Corporate Plan has four priority areas:

  • providing high quality services
  • proud and connected communities and places
  • good growth
  • healthy communities.

Councillor Mahmood added: “Our Corporate Plan explains the type of borough we want to be and the vision which will guide us to get there.

“Against each priority are a number of pledges and actions to show how we’re going to fulfil them.

“This includes providing good quality affordable housing; responding to climate change; protecting our green spaces; improving community safety and keeping our clean streets clean.

“We’ll prioritise street level issues to ensure our neighbourhoods are great places to live.

“And we’ll continue to work with partners to keep our residents safe through the community safety partnership and take an active stance on improving flood defences where this poses a risk.”
