Residents still to claim their cash to help with winter bills

More than 680 people in receipt of Council Tax Support still haven’t claimed their cash to help with winter bills!

Cllr Asjad Mahmood

Hundreds of Pendle residents received a voucher for a one-off cash payment of £75 to help with food, heating and other essentials, at the end of October – 684 vouchers have still not been cashed – and time is running out!

The vouchers expire on 25 January 2024.

This is the latest round of Pendle Borough Council’s Household Support Fund to help residents cope with the cost of living.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “I would urge these residents who have still not taken advantage of this money to do.

“It is money we have been given from the Government’s Household Support Fund to provide much-needed help to residents who are finding it difficult to make ends meet during the colder months.

“The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all through high inflation and interest rates and this will go some way to help ease financial pressures for those who need it most.”

Councillor Mohammad Ammer, Executive Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Wellbeing, added: “This cash payment will come in very useful for those who are struggling to pay for life’s essentials over winter.”
