It will contain a voucher for a one-off cash payment of £75 to help with food, heating and other essentials this winter.

This is the latest round of Pendle Borough Council’s Household Support Fund to help residents cope with the cost of living.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “I’m delighted the Government’s Household Support Fund has been extended for the fourth time, so that we can continue to provide much-needed help to residents who are finding it difficult to make ends meet during the colder months.

“The cost-of-living crisis is affecting us all through high inflation and interest rates and this will go some way to help ease financial pressures for those who need it most.”

There is also help available for families who don’t qualify for a Household Support Fund payment via Burnley and Pendle Citizens Advice. They may be able to get help with energy bills, prepayment fuel meter top-ups or essential household items.

For an application form for energy support from Burnley and Pendle Citizens Advice, email household.supportfund@pendle.cabnet.org or call 01282 616750.

Residents in need of emergency food, or low-cost food, can access a range of food banks and community food organisations. Visit www.pendle.gov.uk/hsf to find out where they are.

Councillor Mohammad Ammer, Executive Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Wellbeing, added: “We know this is a challenging time and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to get the help they need.

“This cash payment will come in very useful for those who are struggling to pay for life’s essentials over winter.”
