Food Waste

A weekly food waste collection service is to be introduced from April for all Pendle residents.

It is part of a new Government legislation which rules all councils in England must provide a weekly collection of food waste from all households for recycling or composting.

Residents will be required to separate their food waste from other waste and put it in a food waste caddy for collection.

Each household will be provided with a 23-litre outdoor caddy and a 5-litre indoor caddy (see image below).

Pendle Borough Council will deliver the new collection service.

Distribution of the caddies to households will take place throughout February; but residents are being urged not to start using the caddies before the official collection date at the beginning of April.

Details of collection dates are in the new 2025/26 Recycling Collections Calendars.
