On Thursday 6 May 2021 residents of Pendle will vote for who they want to represent them on the Borough Council and the County Council. There is also an election for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire.

Elections are important – they are your opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you, and on issues that directly affect day-to-day life in Pendle.

Elections and COVID-19

We are thinking about these elections now so that you can vote safely. We are putting arrangements in place to help you stay safe at the polling station, such as hand sanitiser, floor markings and face masks.

What do I do if I have COVID-19 symptoms on election day?

Please don’t come to the polling station if you have Covid-19 symptoms, or if you’ve been asked to self-isolate.  

You can apply for an emergency proxy vote instead, up until 5pm on Thursday 6 May.  

This allows you to nominate someone you trust to vote on your behalf.

Every Councillor in every ward is up for election this time. The total number of Councillors is being reduced from 49 to 33.

Key dates

You need to be registered to vote in order to have a say at the elections. The easiest way is to register to vote on the GOV.UK website.

• The deadline to register to vote is Monday 19 April 2021
• The deadline to send in your postal vote application is 5pm Tuesday 20 April 2021
• The deadline to send in your proxy vote application is 5pm Tuesday 27 April 2021

Changes to wards and polling stations

Please check your Polling Card carefully this year, because your polling station may have changed. This is because of changes to the boundaries of some of our electoral wards, and the reduction in the number of councillors from 49 to 33.

The Silverman Hall Polling Station has now been changed to the Contact Centre, Number One Market Street, Nelson BB9 7LJ (opposite Nelson Library and Nelson Town Hall).​ There will be signs directing you from the Silverman Hall.
