Daily walk around vehicle app

We are introducing a mobile phone app for taxi drivers to carry out daily vehicle checks.

Every driver must carry out this check at the start every shift. If a vehicle is used by more than one driver, then each driver must carry out the check before the start of their shift.

The app is ‘Checkedsafe’ and can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple.

• The app will be introduced over six months from August 2024.
• For the first three months drivers should download the app and get used to using it.
• CheckedSafe will give each driver a 30 day free trial. After the 30 day trial the app will cost £1 per week for vehicle owners. (Drivers who don't own their vehicle do not have to pay.)
• By 11 November, drivers must have registered and downloaded the app and started to use it. 
• We will not impose any penalties during the six months settling in period.
• The six month period will end on the 12 February 2025. By this date, checks must be carried out at the start of each shift and logged on the app.
• Drivers need to register with CheckedSafe Pendle Borough Council - CheckedSafe Registration. This will take you to the registration page and the direct debit form if you own a vehicle.
• After registering, CheckedSafe will send you details of your username and password.
