Household Support Fund

The Household Support Fund (HSF) is provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to support those most in need with food, energy, or water bills, or wider essentials where appropriate.

Pendle Borough Council’s application scheme is delivered by Citizens Advice East Lancashire. Households facing financial hardship can apply for additional support with:
- Food
- Energy and water costs
- Wider essential household items
How to apply for the Household Support Fund
You can apply if you:
- Live in Pendle
- Are experiencing financial hardship
- Need help with essential living costs (food, energy, water or household essentials)

Alongside HSF, several local organisations provide food support, advice and help with issues such as debt, benefits, budgeting and housing:
- Christians Against Poverty (CAP) – Debt support, budgeting guidance, and practical money advice.
- Citizens Advice East Lancashire – Help with debt, benefits, work, housing, legal issues, and HSF applications.
- Pendle New Neighbours (PNN) - Helping refugees and asylum seekers.
- Pendle Community Food Network – Download guides to find free or low-cost food provision, hot meals, coffee mornings and extended support in your local area.
