Healthy Weight Declaration
Demonstrating our commitment to the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, Dean Langton, Chief Executive, and Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader, signed the Local Government Declaration on Healthy Weight.
By signing the Declaration, developed by Food Active, Councillor Iqbal and Dean recognise the need to develop and implement policies which promote healthy weight and improve the health and well-being of local people.
Lancashire is one of five Trailblazer areas to tackle childhood obesity as part of the Local Government Association's Childhood Obesity Trailblazer programme. Meanwhile, Pennine Lancashire is one of 12 Sport England Local Delivery Pilot areas which aim to increase physical activity.
These two national programmes are led by Blackburn with Darwen Council and dovetail well, bringing healthy weight to the fore.
