Enforcing against littering and dog fouling

A team of enforcement officers work on our behalf to tackle littering and dog fouling.

How much are the fines?

  • For littering (including throwing litter from a car) the fine is £150
  • For dog fouling the fine is £100

All fixed penalty notices have to be paid within 14 days.

If you get a fixed penalty notice for littering and you pay within 10 days, you only have to pay £80.

If you don't pay, you might have to go to court. The biggest fine that the court can give is £2,500.

How to pay your fine

The easiest way is to pay your fixed penalty notice online.

You can pay over the telephone using a credit or debit card. Call 01282 661661. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Switch and DELTA.

You can pay in cash at any Post Office or PayZone outlet. You can find your nearest PayZone outlet

Appeal

If you don't agree with the fine, you have the right not to pay it, and appeal against the decision in a Magistrate's Court.
