Events to pay your respects this Remembrance weekend

People in Pendle are invited to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II and in conflicts around the world since.
On Armistice Day, Saturday 11 November, local residents can join the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Councillor Brian Newman and his wife Lynne, members of the Armed Forces Support Group and local veterans for a short service to pay their respects.
It will take place at 10.45am at the cenotaph outside Nelson Library.
The day after – Sunday 12 November - everyone is welcome to join Pendle councillors at Services of Commitment and Remembrance and wreath laying ceremonies across the borough.
On Remembrance Sunday, ceremonies are taking place in Barley, Barnoldswick, Barrowford, Blacko, Brierfield and Reedley, Colne, Earby, Fence, Foulridge, Higham, Laneshaw Bridge, Nelson, Newchurch, Salterforth and Trawden.
His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Brian Newman, will take part in a service and wreath-laying ceremony at St. John’s Church, Higham, at 10.30am.
He will then lay a wreath at the cenotaph in Fence at 12.15pm, before attending a Service of Remembrance at 3pm in Barnoldswick town square.
The Mayor said: “Remembrance Sunday is such a poignant day which holds great significance for so many.
“People across Pendle are welcome to join us in remembering the brave men and women who lost their lives in the service of our country.”
