Information

Walverden Park was first awarded a Green Flag in 2010, and has maintained its flag ever since. It is a woodland park in an urban area. It has wooded walkways and a river with a range of flora and fauna that create a country park environment.

Disabled Facilities

Many of the paths and walkways are suitable for people with low mobility but some paths are steep.

The playground offers facilities for disabled users.

Play area

The senior playground was refurbished in 2023. The junior playground will be refurbished in 2024.

There are two play areas with eight pieces of equipment:

  • Junior: suitable for 5 to 12 year olds
  • Senior: suitable for 12 to 16 year olds

The playground has facilities for disabled users.

Sports facilities

The park has a multi-use games area (MUGA). A range of sports activities can be played here including football, cricket, basketball and netball.

Friends Group

Walverden Park has a very active Friends Group who work alongside us to maintain the high standard of the park and help organise events and activities within the park itself.

The Friends of Walverden Park with the Parks Outreach Team are extremely proactive in getting involved with planting events to improve the parks appearance, and are keen to involve local schools to promote the importance of looking after the public parks.
