Community initiative launched to support Nelson residents

A new community project which provides hot meals has been launched to support residents and key workers during the coronavirus outbreak.
Bradley Food 2 Go is for those who live in the Bradley and Hodge House areas of Nelson who are self-isolating and unable to maintain food supplies through ill health, poor mobility or lack of money.
Local key workers who are providing essential services in the borough or further afield can also request hot meals.
It’s funded by Bradley Big Local and run by Bradley Big Local Community Land Trust.
Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “These types of initiatives which support the community are so important at this time and I wholly welcome them.
“Bradley Food 2 Go is a fantastic example of how groups are reaching out and offering help to those who need it.”
Waqas Arshad, Chair of Bradley Big Local, said: “We want to make sure that anyone in Bradley or Hodge House who is isolated because of ill health or can’t afford food, can get hot meals.
“And as a thank you we want to make sure key workers who are providing essential services can also access meals. Hopefully it will make their lives a little easier.

It’s anticipated the first meals will start to be delivered on Friday 1 May.
Meanwhile, Pendle Community Support Hub is available to vulnerable residents across the borough.
The Hub can help with things like food, shopping, collecting prescriptions and financial and debt advice.
