Date set to have your say on Colne Masterplan

A date has been set for you to have your say on a Masterplan for Colne.

This is a long-term project which will guide future regeneration in the town over the next 10-15 years.

Masterplans are also being devised for Barnoldswick and Earby.

Draft masterplans for each of the three towns are being developed with your input and ideas on how to best transform what the town centres offer.

Each masterplan will create an individual vision for the town and local people are being encouraged to get involved to ensure it benefits the whole community.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “Colne has not had a masterplan before, so this is a fantastic opportunity to create an ambitious vision for its future, which we hope will boost new investment and development in the town.

“The masterplan will focus on employment opportunities, the retail offer, leisure opportunities, and housing, healthcare and community facilities.

“Input from residents and businesses means we can shape the town the way you want us to, and we look forward to hearing your views.”

The date to have your say is: Thursday, 10 August – 5.30pm – 7.30pm - Colne Town Hall

OPEN, the design team employed by the Council, is looking at how people travel around the town and the wider area, how the town feels for those walking around it, and what would create a stronger economy.

It is also exploring what would make a good mix of facilities for local people and visitors alike.

Alongside this, the team is looking at what measures can be taken to address climate change and protect the natural environment.

Phillip Spurr, Director of Place for Pendle Borough Council, said: “Understanding local people’s priorities is hugely important to us, so please come along to our workshop to tell us what you think a masterplan for Colne should include.

“The workshop will last for two hours and it will be beneficial for people to attend for the duration if possible.”
