Remembrance parades and services in Pendle

People in Pendle are invited to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II and in conflicts around the world since.

On Armistice Day, Friday 11 November, local residents can join a two-minute silence to pay their respects to those who lost their lives at war.

A short service will start at 10.45am at the cenotaph between Nelson Library and the Town Hall and a bugler will mark the beginning and end of the two-minute silence. 

And all are welcome to join Pendle councillors at Services of Commitment and Remembrance and wreath laying ceremonies across the borough on Remembrance Sunday, 13 November 2022.

On Remembrance Sunday, ceremonies are taking place in Barley, Barnoldswick, Barrowford, Blacko, Brierfield and Reedley, Colne, Earby, Fence, Foulridge, Higham, Laneshaw Bridge, Nelson, Newchurch, Salterforth and Trawden.

In Colne a procession will leave Colne Legion Club on Keighley Road at 10.25am and proceed to the war memorial where His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Yasser Iqbal, will lay a wreath at 11am.

The Mayor will then lay a wreath at the cenotaph in Barrowford Memorial Garden at 12 noon and at the cenotaph between Nelson Library and Nelson Town Hall for a Service of Remembrance on Sunday 13 November at 2pm.
 
The Mayor said: “Remembrance Sunday is a day of great significance for so many people.

 “People across Pendle are welcome to join us in remembering the brave men and women who have lost their lives in the service of our country.”

Pendle’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Brian Newman, and Leader, Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, will be among councillors laying wreaths across Pendle to pay our respects during Remembrance Day.
