Business rates are changing – go online to review your draft rateable value

Published: Wednesday, 19th October 2016

Pendle Council is urging businesses to check their draft rateable value is accurate following the Valuation Office Agency’s (VOA) latest revaluation.

The VOA has published its new rateable values online and you’re advised to make sure the information held about your property is correct by 30 November 2016.

Councillor Tony Greaves, who has responsibility for Pendle Council’s finances, said: “It’s important for businesses to go online to view their rateable value as soon as possible.

“If you think the information held about your property is incorrect, you need to update your records because we use this information to calculate your business rates.”

The Council will use these new rateable values to calculate business rate bills from 1 April 2017.

Councillor Greaves added:  “It only takes a few minutes to check your draft rateable value and you can also get an estimate of your 2017/18 bill at the same time.

“If your rateable value is below £12,000, you may be eligible for small business rate relief of 100%.”

Pendle Council is sending a letter on behalf of the VOA to all business ratepayers to ensure they’re aware of the need to check that the information held is accurate.
