Latest on Pendle’s Council Tax Rebate payments

Pendle Borough Council has now made payments or credited the council tax accounts of all households eligible for the Council Tax Rebate payment.

It has paid out £4.7m to more than 31,000 households and credited £150 to more than 4,500 council tax accounts.

Households which qualified for the payment have homes in Council Tax bands A-D.

Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “We know that the current cost of living crisis is hitting some people hard.

“That’s why our partner, Liberata UK, which has managed the payments on our behalf, has worked hard to get the money to households as quickly as possible.”

Households which didn’t supply their bank details to the Council or who failed the validation checks will receive a letter confirming that their council tax account has been credited.

Councillor Ahmed added: “If you would rather have the money than a credit, you can claim a refund via the Council’s website.

“Please wait until you receive a letter confirming this before you apply for a refund payment via our website.

“Remember, you can simply use the credit to help manage your household finances because this credit reduces your Council Tax bill.”

A discretionary scheme will be announced shortly to provide further help for those on Council Tax Support in all bands - A-H.
