Council welcomes Corporate Peer Challenge report

The results of a review which looked at how Pendle Borough Council can improve its performance is set to be discussed by councillors.
The Local Government Association (LGA) was invited to carry out a Corporate Peer Challenge in February.
Led by senior officers and councillors from other councils, the review looked at leadership, governance and financial resilience.
And at the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee meeting on Thursday 30 June, councillors are recommended to welcome the report and consider a draft action plan which responds to key recommendations.
Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “The Council has been through a period of change, politically as well as senior officer leadership.
“It’s important that we look at what our priorities are and whether the way we’re doing things is the right way.
“Taking part in the Peer Challenge has helped us to assess our current position and plan for the future.
“It was a very positive process and we’re already taking on board some of their recommendations.”
Rose Rouse, Chief Executive of Pendle Borough Council, added: “It was fantastic to welcome the peer support team in February.
“We want to do things in a smarter way and provide even better services to local people.
“We’ve launched our transformation programme which is helping us to develop new ways of working across our services.
“I’m pleased that the team was positive about our new approach and we very much welcome the recommendations.”
