More than 700 local businesses are receiving a funding boost from the Government’s Omicron grant schemes totalling almost £900,000.

Both the Omicron Hospitality, Leisure and Accommodation Grant Scheme and Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) Round 6 have now closed.

Pendle Borough Council has supported 182 local hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses who have already received a share of £571, 377.

And 539 businesses are set to receive a grant from the ARG Round 6 pot which totals £322, 575 on Thursday 31 March.

Richard Gibson, the Council’s Chief Finance Officer, said: “In total we received 629 applications for funding from ARG Round 6 but of these 539 have been successful.

“Some were duplicate applications and unfortunately we are not able to support businesses that are no longer trading.

“We’re really pleased that we could support businesses which were not eligible for the Omicron Hospitality, Leisure and Accommodation Grant through ARG Round 6.”

So that the Council can support as many businesses as possible it has set the grant businesses will receive.

  • Fixed premises will receive £850
  • Mobile and self-employed businesses will receive £425.

Richard added: “Whilst this is lower than we first thought, we are delighted that we’ve been able to support so many more of our local businesses.

“Payments will be made on Thursday 31 March and successful applicants should have already received an email confirming this.

“All funds have been allocated and there are no grounds for appeal.

“At this time there is no further funding available.”
