Latest Covid-19 data for Pendle

Covid-19 cases in Pendle have risen sharply again this week, with 1683 new cases being recorded in the last seven days.
The age group that has recorded the most new cases is 30 – 39 year olds with 189 cases. This is followed by 20 – 29 year olds with 168 cases, and the 40 – 49 age group with 146 cases.
The latest seven-day infection rate across Pendle, based on the cases for every 100,000 people, now stands at 793.3.
Sadly, there have been three reported deaths in Pendle this week within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.
The Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to prove highly infectious and has been spreading fast in the UK over the festive period and into the New Year.
Every adult is being urged to get their booster vaccine, as two doses does not give you enough protection against catching Omicron.
People aged 18 or over can pre-book a booster dose appointment two months after their second dose of the vaccine. You can get a booster three months after your second dose.
Currently, if you are fully vaccinated but a contact of a positive Covid-19 case, you should take a daily lateral flow test for seven days. If you test positive or develop symptoms, you need to self-isolate and get a PCR test.
From Tuesday 11 January, confirmatory PCR tests are to be temporarily suspended for positive lateral flow test results.
If you receive positive lateral flow result you will be required to self-isolate immediately but won’t need to take a PCR test unless you develop Covid-19 symptoms.
It’s also crucial that we continue to follow the rules and guidance set out in the Government’s Plan B measures in order to slow the spread of Omicron and reduce pressure on the NHS.
This includes wearing face coverings in most indoor public places and on public transport for people 11 years and over, unless exempt. You should also continue to work from home if possible.
It is now mandatory to show your NHS COVID Pass at certain venues or provide proof from the NHS of a negative PCR test result in the last 48 hours.
Your pass will be needed for entry into nightclubs and settings where large crowds gather. More details on where it is required can be found on the Government website.
