Latest Pendle Covid-19 stats

Covid-19 cases in Pendle have risen sharply this week, with 376 new cases being recorded.

The age group that has recorded the most new cases is 30 – 39 year olds with 66 cases. This is followed by 40 – 49 year olds with 55 cases, and the 20-29 age group with 53 cases.

The latest seven-day infection rate across Pendle, based on the cases for every 100,000 people, now stands at 306. This is up on the 245.3 reported last week.

Sadly, there has been one reported death this week within 28 days of a positive test.

We're continuing to encourage all adults in Pendle to get their Covid-19 booster, because two doses does not give you enough protection against the Omicron variant.

People aged 18 or over can pre-book a booster dose appointment two months after their second dose of the vaccine. You can get a booster three months after your second vaccine dose.

Barkerhouse Pharmacy in Nelson is still running walk-ins for anyone eligible for either dose, as well as the booster.

They are closed on Christmas Day, but open on Sunday 26th, Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th December between 9am to 3pm, when most other places are closed. Please check our website for full details.

From today, Wednesday 22 December, self-isolation guidance has changed for people who test positive for any variant of Covid-19, regardless of whether or not you have been double-vaccinated.

Negative results from lateral flow tests on day 6 and day 7 of self-isolation can be used to reduce this period from 10 to 7 days, so long as there is at least 24 hours between both negative tests.

If ending your self-isolation period before 10 full days, please limit close contact with other people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.

You should also continue to work from home if possible and wear a face covering when in public settings, unless exempt.

Please do everything you can to protect yourself, your family & friends this festive season and to ease the pressure on our NHS.
