Pendle businesses urged to see if they qualify for financial help

More Pendle businesses could be able to access further grant funding following the launch of the fifth round of Pendle Council’s Additional Restrictions Grant.
Since the start of the pandemic Pendle Council has given out more than £35m from the Government in financial support to local businesses.
And following the launch of its latest grant scheme the Council is urging businesses severely affected by the Covid-19 restrictions to see if they can access any financial help.
There are three sections:
- Discretionary Hardship Fund
- ARG Event Support Scheme
- ARG Charitable Organisations Scheme
Richard Gibson, Pendle Council’s Chief Finance Officer, said: “I must stress that the grants are to support businesses which have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 restrictions. “They are discretionary grants which are given out on a first come, first served basis, so if you think you’re eligible, it’s important that you apply as soon as possible!” The Discretionary Hardship Fund is open to businesses in key sectors which provide an important service to the borough or provide a significant economic or employment benefit. One-off grants of up to £50,000 are available. Meanwhile the ARG Event Support Scheme aims to boost the recovery of the tourism and cultural economies of the borough. Grants of up to £10,000 will support events which are taking place before 31 March 2022 to help with costs for measures to manage Covid-19, including sanitisers, signage and testing. And the Charitable Organisations Scheme will help charitable organisations and community-based businesses to establish new activities or support existing activities that have been restricted due to Covid. One-off grants of up to £10,000 are available. Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “This money is all about supporting businesses and charitable organisations badly affected by Covid-19. “Grants range from up to £10,000 to £50,000 and all applicants must put forward a business case as part of their application.
