Covid-19 stats for Pendle

Covid-19 cases in Pendle have risen, with 243 positive cases being recorded in the last 7 days.

The age group that has recorded the most new cases is 10 – 19 year olds with 41 cases. This is followed by 30 – 39 year olds with 38 cases, and the 40 – 49 age group with 35 cases.

The latest seven-day infection rate across Pendle now stands at 268.1, which is up slightly on the 253.9 reported last week.

Sadly, there has been 1 reported death this week within 28 days of receiving a positive test.

As of Tuesday, 7 December, anyone aged 12+ travelling to the UK will now need to show a negative PCR or lateral flow pre-departure test, taken no earlier than 48 hours before departure.

This is another temporary measure to prevent further Omicron cases entering the UK, along with taking a PCR test on or before day 2 of your arrival into the UK and self-isolating until receiving a negative result.

Face coverings continue to be compulsory on public transport and in shops and other public settings such as banks, post offices and hairdressers, unless you are exempt.

Please also take a lateral flow test if you are likely to be in contact with others in high-risk situations – such as before going into work, or before you visit people who are at a higher risk of severe illness.

Viruses are much more likely to spread in enclosed spaces during winter as there is often poor ventilation indoors, so don’t forget to let fresh air in – even just for short bursts – when mixing with people from different households.

A well-ventilated room can reduce the risk of airborne transmission of Covid-19 by up to 70%.

Getting vaccinated remains our best form of defence against Covid-19, so we’re still encouraging anyone yet to take up their first or second dose of the vaccine to do so.

Barkerhouse Pharmacy in Nelson is still running walk-ins seven days a week for anyone eligible for either dose, as well as the booster and flu jabs.
