Voting day is approaching fast – be ready to use your vote

Published: Thursday, 14th April 2016

Thursday 5th May is the day when you can vote for councillors to represent you.

In Pendle this year there are elections for the Borough Council, as well for a new Police and Crime Commissioner.

There are elections in 16 Borough Council wards. But this year there will be none in Blacko and Higherford, Foulridge, Higham and Pendleside and Old Laund Booth wards.

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election will take place in all wards across Pendle.

The candidates for each ward and the PCC election are on the Council’s website - www.pendle.gov.uk

Details are also available at the contact centre, Contact Pendle, in Market Street, Nelson.

Gillian Turpin, Pendle Council’s Elections Manager, said: “It’s so important to use your vote.

“Councillors in your ward make decisions on your behalf all the year round on all kinds of issues that affect you.

“Election day is your chance to vote for the person you want to represent you.

“I would urge everyone who has a vote in Pendle to use it.

“Your vote makes a difference.”

Polling stations will be open on Thursday 5th May between 7am and 10pm. Just turn up to vote – you don’t need to take your poll card with you.

The count of the Borough Council and Police and Crime Commissioner votes will take place on Friday 6th May. Results will be posted on the Council’s website that day.
