Brierfield Town Council, no. wards reduce proposal

Brierfield Town Council is proposing to reduce the number of its wards and Pendle Council wants to know what you think.

The Town Council’s proposals would reduce its wards from five to three but the number of town councillors would remain at 13.

It aims to reduce confusion for residents when voting in local elections.

The current wards are Central, East, North, South and West and the Town Council proposes to:

  • combine the existing East and North wards into a new ward to be called East with 5 councillors
  • combine  the existing South and Central wards into a new ward to be called South with 5 councillors
  • keep the existing West ward as it is at present with 3 councillors.

Andrea Mullin, Pendle Council’s Elections Manager, said: “You’ll find more information about the proposals on the Council’s website – www.pendle.gov.uk/council

“You can also contact me if you’d like to find out more by emailing andrea.mullin@pendle.gov.uk or calling (01282) 661662.

“Please submit your comments on the proposals to me by email by Monday 1 November.”
