Nelson Town Hall, HQ of Pendle Council.

A mobile vaccination unit is coming to Nelson on Thursday and Friday to give residents an opportunity to get their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccination.

The unit will be on Market Street, opposite Nelson Library, from 10am – 4pm on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 July.

Anyone aged 18 and over can drop-in for their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

And if it’s been eight weeks or more since anyone had their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, they can drop-in and have their second dose.

Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “It’s so important that anyone who hasn’t yet been vaccinated takes up this opportunity.

“Rates of Covid-19 are still high in Pendle so we need to remain vigilant and do all we can to protect ourselves, our families and our friends.

“Uptake is fairly low in parts of the borough which is why we want to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated.

“If you had your first dose of the Pfizer vaccination at least eight weeks ago then please come along and have your second dose.”

As well as anyone aged 18 or over being urged to get vaccinated, Councillor Ahmed is encouraging everyone to get tested regularly, with or without symptoms.

He said: “By regularly getting tested, we can prevent the virus from spreading to others.

“It’s also as important as ever to remember to wash your hands, wear a face mask in enclosed spaces and keep two metres apart from people you don’t live with.”

The mobile vaccination unit is in Nelson for two days only and has limited supplies of the vaccine so residents are being urged to get there early!
