All-out Pendle Council elections, as well as Lancashire County Council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections, are taking place in Pendle on Thursday 6 May.

But if you want to be able to vote you need to make sure you’re registered to vote by Monday (19 April).

Philip Mousdale, Pendle Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said:

“It’s particularly important for anyone who will be 18 by 6 May to register to vote.

“Or if you’ve recently moved home, make sure you’re registered to vote at your current address.

“Every seat in every ward on Pendle Council is up for election, so this is your chance to have your say on who represents you.

“You can see who is standing for election on our website by visiting www.pendle.gov.uk/elections and clicking on current elections.”

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 19 April. It takes just five minutes to do it online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

There are a number of ways you can choose to vote.

  • In person at a polling station
  • Postal vote
  • By appointing someone you trust to vote in your place, known as a proxy vote

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April, and for a proxy vote the deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.

Philip added: “For those who choose to vote in person, polling stations will be safe places to visit.

“Voters must wear a face covering, use the hand sanitiser provided and we’re encouraging you to bring your own pen or pencil.

“Some polling stations have changed this year so please check your poll card for where you should go to vote.”

You can check if you’re on the electoral register by calling (01282) 661662 or emailing elections@pendle.gov.uk and staff in our Elections Team will check it for you.
