All-out Pendle Council elections, as well as Lancashire County Council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections, are taking place in Pendle on Thursday 6 May.

“But to have your say, you must be on the electoral register,” stressed Philip Mousdale, Pendle Council’s Electoral Registration Officer.

“It’s particularly important for anyone who has recently turned 18 or moved home to make sure you’re registered to vote at your current address.

“Every councillor in every ward who currently sits on Pendle Council is up for election, so this is your chance to have your say on who represents you.”

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 19 April.

It takes just five minutes to do it online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

If you were registered to vote in the last election and your details have not changed, you don’t need to do anything.

There are a number of ways you can vote.

• In person at a polling station
• Postal vote
• By appointing someone you trust to vote in your place, known as a proxy vote

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April, and for a proxy vote the deadline is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.

Philip added: “For those who choose to vote in person, polling stations will be safe places to vote on 6 May.”
