Pendle Council is reminding businesses that Government funded grants are available for those affected by local or national Covid-19 restrictions.

Local Restrictions Support Grants are available to Pendle businesses which have had to temporarily close for two weeks or more.

To be eligible for a cash grant for every two week period businesses have been closed, applicants must be paying business rates.

Those eligible will also automatically qualify for a Closed Business Lockdown Payment, which is an additional one-off grant depending on the rateable value of a business premises.

Additional Restrictions Grants support eligible businesses which have been affected by the restrictions but are not covered by other Government funded grant schemes.

Businesses which do not directly pay business rates, but have had to close, can apply.

And businesses that have not had to close but have been severely impacted by local and national restrictions, can also apply – as long as they haven’t already qualified for a Local Restrictions Support Grant (discretionary).

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal MBE, Leader of Pendle Council, explained: “We know this continues to be a very challenging and worrying time for local businesses.

“Supporting them is absolutely crucial and we’re pleased to be able to offer this much-needed help.

“We’ll be working hard to get the payments to eligible businesses as quickly as possible because we know they’re a much needed lifeline!”
