BBC’s Dom on the Spot comes to Pendle

Dom on the Spot

There are some familiar faces on BBC1 this week.

Pendle Council’s Environmental Crime Team is starring in the latest daytime series of Dom On The Spot!

It started on Monday (5th September) at 11am and runs every week day for 45 minutes for three weeks.

And the first episode which includes our Pendle team is being broadcast today (Wednesday).

People’s champion Dom Littlewood fronts the programme which follows law enforcers across the country as they dole out fines for offences, such as fly-tipping and dropping litter and cigarette butts.

Dom explores why fines are dished out and questions why people break the law on a day to day basis.

And since late May David Alexander, Jonathan Yurek, Lesley Brooks, Matty Hargreaves and Jeff Brown have been followed by a camera crew as they carried out their daily patrols.

The Team tackled fly-tipping, dropped litter and cigarette butts and dumped car parts amongst other things.

David Alexander, Senior Environmental Crime Officer, said: “It was fantastic to be involved in the series.

“It’s such a great opportunity to showcase the work we do on behalf of residents to ensure the borough is an attractive and clean place to live!”

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, added: “Thank you to our Environmental Crime Team for getting involved in this new BBC series.

“The Team does a fantastic job tackling many of the issues which affect our residents’ lives and this goes some way to showing some of the work they do.

“Graffiti, fly-tipping, dog fouling, litter, bags of rubbish and bins left out all make our streets look untidy and dirty and are all crimes.

“We take environmental crime seriously and would encourage residents to report any incidents to us on our website – www.pendle.gov.uk/envirocrime  or by calling (01282) 661743.

If you forget to record an episode they’ll all be available on the BBC iPlayer.
