Pendle Council has launched its Local Restrictions Support Grant scheme and eligible businesses are encouraged to apply.

Eligible businesses are those which were forced to close because:

• Pendle was placed in Tier 3 (Very High) restrictions on Saturday 17 October
• England was placed into lockdown nationally on Thursday 5 November

Businesses which qualify for a Tier 3 grant include pubs and bars which do not serve a substantial meal, casinos, bingo halls, betting shops and adult gaming centres, soft play centres and car boot sales.

Businesses who qualify for a national lockdown grant are non-essential retail, leisure, personal care (including hairdressers), sports facilities and hospitality businesses.

Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “We know how tough it is for businesses at the moment and we’ll do everything we can to continue to support you.

“Thank you for helping to stop the spread of Covid-19 by following the regulations and for your patience whilst we waited for Government guidance on the grant scheme.”

Councillor David Whipp, Deputy Council Leader, added: “If your businesses has been forced to close and you were the business ratepayer when Tier 3, or national lockdown, were introduced you may qualify for a grant.

“If you are eligible, please apply online and we will process the payments as quickly as possible.

“The amount of money you will receive is dependent on the rateable value of your property.

“Those who are not business ratepayers, or who have not been required to close but have been severely impacted by the restrictions, may be able to apply for a discretionary grant which will be launched shortly.

“Details will be published on the Council’s website.”
