Every home in Pendle will receive a leaflet highlighting the new guidance currently in place in Pendle to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Around 41,500 leaflets are now dropping through letterboxes highlighting the borough’s five point plan that everyone needs to follow.

  1. Get tested even if you have no symptoms. This will help us to prevent coronavirus from spreading by identifying people who have no symptoms but carry the virus.
  2. Avoid large family and group gatherings indoors and overnight stays
  3. Wherever possible, do shopping on linepre-book appointments and make contactless payments
  4. Wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces – including shops and supermarkets
  5. Shops and businesses must display the maximum number of people allowed inside and stick to that number

Stressing the importance of following the points in the plan, Councillor Mohammed Iqbal said: “Coronavirus is still with us so we all need to follow the guidance and do what we can to reduce the spread.

“It can affect anyone in the community.

“Following a spike in cases in July, anyone can now get tested in Pendle - even if you don’t have any symptoms.

“We’re urging everyone to get tested so that we can identify who may not be aware they have the virus so that we can stop it spreading.

“Let’s do it for Pendle and get tested!”

There are now three ways you can get a free test in Pendle.

You can:

  • go to a mobile testing unit in Nelson, Barnoldswick, Colne or Brierfield
  • visit a community drop-in testing site in Nelson or Brierfield town centre
  • request a home testing kit.

To make sure that as many people as possible can access the testing sites they will be moving to suitable locations across Pendle.
